Here we go again!!!

I'm excite to be back in my classroom and getting it all organized and colourful for the coming year.  I've been reflecting on the results of last year, and overall I'm really impressed with the amazing students I get to work with year after year.  But if there's one thing we need to work on - it's being willing to PUSH for higher results.

What does it take for excellence?  How many hours of study and practice questions does it take, or do students just fall into great grades based on their natural ability?  I was disappointed at how many students who head into Provincial exams laughing that they didn't study, and am wondering what does it take to motivate them to rise to their true ability?  Maybe they think that excellence only  happens between the hours of 9 to 3 or maybe it's that the Provincial is so intimidating that kids feel defeated before they have a chance to succeed?

What does SUCCESS mean to you and how do you get there?
